This Privacy Policy explains how Burks Capital LLC ("Burks Capital," "we," "our," or "us"), operating SY Books as a doing-business-as name, collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website at sybooks.app and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). SY Books is a brand operated by Burks Capital LLC, a limited liability company. All rights in the SY Books platform, content library, and intellectual property are owned by Burks Capital LLC. References to "SY Books," "we," "our," or "us" throughout this policy refer to Burks Capital LLC.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account.
• Payment information: billing details entered during checkout. We do not store full card numbers — payment data is handled entirely by Stripe (see Section 6).
• Communications: messages you send us through support channels or contact forms.
• Reading preferences: books you save, reading progress, workbook entries, and plan selections.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration, clicks, and reading behavior.
• Device and browser data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, and referring URL.
• Cookies and similar technologies: identifiers stored in your browser to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and measure performance (see Section 4).
• Log data: server logs that record requests made to our platform, including timestamps and error reports.

2.3 Information from third parties

• Advertising platforms: Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google may share event-match data with us when you interact with our ads.
• Payment processors: Stripe provides transaction confirmations and fraud signals (but not full card data).

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and subscription.
• Deliver, personalize, and improve the Service, including recommending books and curating your reading path.
• Process payments and send receipts and billing communications.
• Send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, subscription updates).

• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4.1 Essential cookies

Required for the Service to function. They maintain your session, keep you logged in, and remember your plan. These cannot be disabled without breaking core features.

4.2 Analytics cookies

Help us understand how visitors use the Service. We use first-party analytics and may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Data collected is aggregated and used to improve the platform.

4.3 Advertising and retargeting cookies

We use the following advertising platforms and their associated pixels, SDKs, and server-side conversion APIs:

• Meta Pixel and Conversions API (CAPI): We fire Meta events (PageView, ViewContent, InitiateCheckout, Purchase) both client-side via the Meta Pixel and server-side via the Meta Conversions API. This enables us to measure ad effectiveness and retarget visitors on Facebook and Instagram. Meta's use of this data is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.
• Google Ads and Google Tag Manager: We use Google's conversion tracking tags and may use Google's remarketing features. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4.4 Cookie management

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some features of the Service. A cookie preference center may be added in a future update.

5. Third-party sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with third parties only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: vendors who help us operate the Service (cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing, analytics). They are contractually bound to use your data only to perform services for us.
• Advertising partners: Meta and Google, as described in Section 4, to measure and optimize ad campaigns.
• Legal compliance: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Burks Capital LLC, its users, or the public.

6. Payment processing

All payment transactions are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI DSS-compliant payment processor. We transmit only the minimum information needed (email address, billing amount) to initiate a payment. We never receive or store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

7. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion we may retain:

• Transaction records for up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting laws.
• Aggregated, anonymized usage data indefinitely (this data cannot identify you).
• Any information we are legally required to retain for longer periods.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing [email protected]. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

8. Your rights
